10-year-old jumps to safety in apartment fire in north Houston

HOUSTON — A 10-year-old boy jumped from the second story of his apartment building as his north Houston apartment complex went up in flames.

The fire broke out at the Fallbrook Apartments on Plaza Verde Drive last night, firefighter said. The boy was injured and was taken to the hospital in stable condition, investigators said.

Crews had to call in back-up to fight the blaze. A total 8 units were completely destroyed. As for the cause? There are rumors that someone was barbecuing.

Arson is investigating.
