CHANNELVIEW, Texas— It may be Halloween, but what's up with all these posers trying to impersonate police officers?

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man seen on surveillance video while at a Channelview convenience store during the hours he allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl.

Deputies said he allegedly told the girl he was an officer and to get in his car because he was going to take her in to a police station for violating curfew.

Instead, authorities said the man — armed with a black and silver semiautomatic handgun — drove the young girl to an overpass of the Crosby Freeway and forced the victim to have sex with him.

Officials believe the man was driving a black 2007 to 2009 Saturn Aura, possibly with a temporary or paper license plates attached to the rear bumper.

Crime Stoppers is offering an up to $5,000 reward to nab the impostor.
