LA PORTE, Texas — A man and woman were jailed over the weekend after attempting to pull a fast one on the cops in La Porte, police said.

The La Port Police Department received calls around 10 p.m. Dec. 11 about a suspicious vehicle parked in the alleyway near the 500 block of S. Kansas Street, authorities said.

Investigators said Bobbie Wilkening, 23, was sitting inside the vehicle when officers arrived. Officers were chatting with Wilkening when they noticed several household items on the ground next to a fence lining the back of a house.

Police went inside the home and found Chase Moody, 22, inside the home’s living room. Investigators said Moody admitted to not living at the home before officers he felt disoriented and need to lie down.

The department said officers then tracked down the owners of the home, who were away at the time.

The homeowners were able to exposed the ruse, saying they didn’t know the Wilkening or Moody and didn’t give the duo permission to take property from the house.

Moody is charged with burglary of a habitation, and Wilkening faces marijuana possession.
