HOUSTON — Investigators are waiting for autopsy results after a woman’s body was found Tuesday morning just yards away from a children’s park on the southeast side of town, the Houston Police Department said.

“We have information that she may be a local prostitute, operating off of the Telephone Road area,” Det. Robert Kementich said.

The victim, who is believed to be in her 40s, was discovered shortly before 6 a.m. in the 2500 block of Carrolton Street, police said.

Investigators suspect she was killed at a different location, wrapped in a blanket and then dumped near the park.

Officers said no details on how she died, as of yet.

“There’s no indication of trauma or either a gunshot wound or stab wounds. No indication that she was strangled, at this point,” Klementich said.

Anyone with information related to the homicide is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
