HOUSTON - Emeke Egbule knew the University of Houston was the right choice for him.
"This was really the only team I knew about growing up," Egbule said.
The linebacker would see UH clothing around town as he grew up in Galena Park. He played both basketball and football for North Shore High School, and when it came time for college, the decision was easy.
"I didn't have many offers coming out of high school. This was really my best offer. It's really convenient. It's close to home, I can see my family."
Egbule was one of the heroes of a 38-31 win over Tulsa last season. He ran back a 24-yard fumble return that gave the Coogs a lead late in the game. As a junior, he's hoping to be a part of more wins.
"Being here and knowing the culture and everything, it's just a good think to be a part of," he said.
