Family, community gather for funeral honoring Houston councilman Larry Green

HOUSTON - Hundreds gathered at Brentwood Baptist Church Monday to celebrate the life of a City Councilman Larry Green.

“We'll all miss Councilmember Larry Green, he was very hands on in his district,” said Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

Green was found dead in his home last Tuesday, and while the cause of death is still unknown, the cause of his life and service was celebrated at his memorial.

"He believed in the impossible dream,” said Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. “What a blessing to have a man like Larry Green accept the calling of public service."

Expanding from The Medical Center into parts of Fort Bend County, District K called Green their councilman for 6 years.

“We're grateful for a young man who left us too early, but my friends he left his mark, and for that we all want to thank Larry Green,” expressed Commissioner Rodney Ellis.

Green will be laid to rest in Pearland, but his memory will live on, memorialized by those who worked closely with him.
