PORTLAND, CT – It may be a dog-eat-dog world, but not in this Connecticut family.

Duke, who was adopted six years ago by the Brousseau’s, saved the day when the newest addition to the family, a nine-week old baby, stopped breathing.

Duke jumped up on his owners’ bed, waking the husband and wife. They knew something was wrong because this is out of character for ol’ Duke.

On a hunch, mom and dad went into the nursery, where they found their daughter, Harper, not breathing.

So, dad called 9-1-1. Paramedics were able to revive Harper, and she’s doing a-ok. But there’s no doubt that the real hero is?

“He’s the perfect dog. He was meant to be ours, and meant to be hers,” says duke’s owner, Jenna Brousseau. “I tell him all the time you were born in mommy’s heart, just because he was so meant to be ours. He’s heaven. He’s a good boy.”

Move over, Lassie. There’s a new top dog in town!
