ROTTERDAM, NETHERLANDS – When it comes to art, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.

But stealing masterpieces is downright ugly.

Police in the Netherlands don’t know how bandits broke into a Rotterdam museum and left with hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of art, from the likes of Picasso, Monet, Gauguin and Matisse.

The art is registered, so it’s not like it can be easily resold.  Maybe the guy who defaced the Picasso at the Menil had something to do with it!

The bad guys may try to get a ransom or sell the paintings on the criminal market for way under their value.
