BAYTOWN, TX – The death of a Baytown teen has left many angry and others heartbroken. Baytown police have Jennifer Jenkins and Shannon Joe Chauncey in custody charged with everything from evading arrest, to theft, to possession of a controlled substance but the most tragic charge is evading arrest that resulted in death.

16-year-old Shawn Williams was the passenger in a car that was hit by the two suspects as they led police on a chase. Baytown police say the Bonnie and Clyde duo had been seen shoplifting in two stores nearby. When they got caught they fled, eventually hitting the car Williams and his friend, 17-year-old Shay Hollingshead were riding in. Both of their vehicles went up in flames.

Williams, the son of a La Porte minister, died at the scene. Hollingshead, the driver of the car, was taken to the hospital in critical condition by life flight.

Like it so often does in these types of accidents the bad guys weren’t seriously hurt. In fact Jenkins and Chauncey ran from the accident, leading police on a chase yet again!

Finally caught and behind bars it’s the Williams family and much of the town that’s left to deal with the unfair death of their son and friend
