TAMPA BAY, FL – Cornelius the monkey has been on the run in Florida for three years after escaping from a small colony of monkeys in Silver Springs.

All the while driving official’s bananas!

The search for the 45-pound Macaque went wild recently after he went ape — you know what — and attacked a Saint Petersburg woman in her backyard.

Wildlife officials staked out her neighborhood and that’s when they spotted him swinging in the trees.

Bulls-eye, Cornelius was shot with a tranquilizer and is finally behind bars.

He’s now in solitary confinement, if his health checks out the plans are to send Cornelius to a sanctuary.

Case of the mystery monkey is closed!
