HOUSTON – The month of December is more than decking the halls! It’s also been designated as National Impaired Driving Prevention Month. Now before you go thinking this is another drinking and driving campaign, you’re wrong! It’s a time to recognize the risks of drugged driving and how to stop it!

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2010, one in three drivers who were killed in a car crash tested positive for drugs. Not just illegal drugs, but prescription drugs, too.

With the holidays here, and many people hitting the roads, the awareness couldn’t come at a better time. But let’s remember one thing, just because December is the month designated for this, driving while impaired should never be an option all year-round!
