WORLD – Google has released its top search list for 2012. The greatest search of all was Whitney Houston, who died back in February. After that, Hurricane Sandy and the election were numbers two and three.

As for the Twitter-verse, President Obama’s “four more years” tweet, with a pic of him hugging Michelle, was the most re-tweeted tweet of all time. It got resent more than 800,000 times.

Their most active time of the year for Twitter was during the final vote count for the election.

As for Facebook, the most talked about single event of the year was the election, then the Super Bowl, then the death of Whitney Houston. An interesting side note:  the biggest Facebook trend in Australia during 2012 was the book 50 Shades of Grey.

It’ll be interesting to see what we’re talking about this time next year. We’re holding out hope it will be world peace.
