coatsHOUSTON – The weather in Houston can be like a seesaw. Some days it’s hot. Some days it’s freezing.

Houston firefighters went to Gallegos Elementary to give away coats.

‘This morning was all about Operation Warm. It’s a joint effort between the International Association of Firefighters and our local firefighter’s organization. It’s about handing out coats for kids and today we handed out over 550 coats,” said Houston Firefighters Association Director Alvin White.

Operation Warm has been giving away coats since 1998. It’s one of the nation’s largest non-profit providers of new winter coats to children in need. And with temperatures expected in the 30s Friday morning, the gift couldn’t have come at a better time.
