USA – Did you hear? The 2012 Time magazine Person of the Year is our newly re-elected President Barack Obama.

In his extreme close-up, you can see every hard-earned crease in his face and lots of gray hairs. Both have come to center stage after four stressful years doing one of the hardest jobs on the planet.

But does this newly crowned title surprise you?

We’ve been trying to predict the ‘bests’ of 2012 inside NewsFix for the last several weeks.

Remember Steve Simon named the Mars Rover his pick for the 2012 Machine of the Year? And last week Time’s readers selected North Korea’s Lil’ Kim Jung Un as its person of the year.

Sounds great and all, but we can’t help but reflect on all the mass shootings across our nation this year.

Seems like it might have been more appropriate to put a candle on the cover and have the Time Person of the Year be all the innocent victims.

Either way, we can all agree that 2012 has been a challenging year.
