SOUTH BEND, IN – Americans like to build their heroes up, but we love to tear them down. Just ask Lance ‘Liar Liar Pants on Fire’ Armstrong. But he’s not the only athlete taking heat these days.

Notre Dame Linebacker Manti Te’o is still facing a barrage of questions and criticism over the sob story he gave the world about his girlfriend who died of leukemia.

Turns out, she never existed in the first place.

Now there are reports Te’o talked about Lennay Kekua as if she had existed, even after he had already admitted to Notre Dame that she wasn’t real.

But despite these reports, another footballer swears he met Lennay Kekua!

Former fullback for the Arizona Cardinals, Reagan Maui’a, claims he met Kekua face-to-face when he and other Polynesian teammates were doing charity work in American Samoa in June 2011.

Maui’a claims he became good friends with Kekua, describing her as an ‘Athletic, tall, beautiful Polynesian woman who looked like a model’.

Forget Tebowing; Te’oing with your fake girlfriend is the latest web sensation!

People living in Florence, Kentucky, can enjoy America’s favorite pastime with their fake date.

The Florence Freedom is reserving a special section for fans who want to sit with their bogus boo.

They can even share a smooch on the pretend kiss cam!

But wait! There’s more!

The first 1,000 fans will get a special edition Lennay Kekua bobblehead! (Hint: it`s just an empty box!)

How appropriate, since this whole story has all of us shaking our heads!

And on second thought, we know exactly who should interview Te’o’s girlfriend.

Somebody call Clint Eastwood!
