CONROE, TX – Who could forget the two children living in filth, unsupervised, in an old fixed up school bus in Splendora, Texas?

Their parents, Mark and Sherrie Shorten, served 18-months in lockup for conspiracy to embezzle Hurricane Ike money in Louisiana, and the kids were supposed to be under an aunt’s supervision but, clearly that didn’t happen.

Now, the family’s being reunited.

After working with child welfare agencies and Child Protective Services, the Shorten’s showed up in court to ask a judge for full custody of the kids back. Their wish was granted.

We’re hoping, for the kids’ sake, that in this case the justice system worked.
