HOUSTON, TX – A dime can go a long way. It’s not just worth ten pennies; it can be worth an entire life.

The March of Dimes teamed up with CenterPoint energy to kick off the 2013 March for Babies campaign.

4 million babies were born in the United States last year. Thanks to 75 years’ worth of research, education and vaccines by the March of Dimes, these babies are off to a better start than previous generations.

Kathleen Cummings is one who knows. Her triplets were born two months pre-mature.

“Two of them were in the NICU for four weeks, and one was in the NICU for six weeks,’ said Cummings. ‘With all of the things they had to battle:¬† between apnea, bradycardia, blood transfusions and brain bleeds, that the advances that they made were able to overcome those, along with the wonderful staff at women’s hospital.”

NewsFix is getting in on the action, too. We’ll be out at the March for Babies walk on April 28th. Come join us! It’s for a good cause and as a bonus, you can work on the New Year’s resolution to exercise more, too.
