SWITZERLAND – Here is a piece of news to grapple with: One of the oldest Olympic sports has been removed from the 2020 Olympic Games.

Olympic wrestling, which dates back to the 1896 inaugural games in Athens, is down for the count! It has been dropped in favor of other sports like field hockey.

The Twitterverse exploded today with hashtags like #SaveOlympicWrestling.

Olympic wrestling gold medalist, Jordan Burroughs, has taken to Twitter saying, “It’s not over yet. We will keep fighting to save the sport we love. Don’t stop dreaming and don’t stop believing.”

Wrestling now joins other outcast sports like baseball and karate.
