PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA – For a guy who spends so much of his time on the track, Paralympic runner Oscar Pistorius’ life is anything but on track right now.

The South African sports icon has been formally charged with the murder of his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp. The “blade runner” looked more like Oscar-Crier during his first court appearance. In front of both his family and Reeva’s family, witnesses say the 26-year-old was shaking and crying uncontrollably, as the state claimed he’d premeditated the murder of his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day.

While local media is saying Oscar mistook his girlfriend for an intruder when he shot and killed her, cop’s say they don’t know where that information came from.

Now Nike’s running from the case as fast as they can, pulling an ad that compares Oscar to a bullet. Foreshadowing? Or an eerie coincidence?

Who knows?

It doesn’t take a PR genius to know that running away from ties to Pistorius is a wise decision right about now.
