PASADENA, TX – Pasadena, Texas has a sex scandal brewing.

LaShawn Simmons, 41, is a former math teacher at Beverly Hills Intermediate. She’s accused of doing illegal things with four J. Frank Dobie High School students.

Harris County officials charged her on five felony counts, including sexual assault of a minor, two counts of improper relationship between an educator and student, possession of child porn and online solicitation of a minor.

It’s that last one that Pasadena I.S.D. officials say got her caught. They say they were alerted by a parent who claims Simmons and her kid was messaging online.

Pasadena I.S.D. Superintendent Kirk Lewis said the online messages “just led to more and more deeper information as we did the investigation that just showed grossly inappropriate behavior on the part of that teacher.”

That’s when Simmons was placed on administrative leave. Soon after that, she quit after working at Beverly Hills for 14 years.

(Anyone out there think “resignation” has “guilty” written all over it?)

As of Tuesday, Harris County officials were waiting for Simmons to turn herself in.

Simmons is looking at serious jail time if convicted. Sounds like she needs a study break.
