HOUSTON, TX – We all want safer streets, right? Well, the Houston Police Department is trying to do just that. Since today is March 1, HPD rolled out this year’s March on Crime initiative. It’s in an effort to stop crime before it even starts.

“You’re going to see a lot of officers reaching out to the community, the businesses, the schools, and the churches, to educate on crime prevention,’ said Executive Assistant Chief Martha Montalvo, with HPD.

This year, HPD is focusing on robbery, child safety, and gun safety.

“So I implore everyone to help us, and partner with us, and help us make Houston a safer community,” said Montalvo.
