NEWPORT, ME – If you live up north you might take snow for granted. 6-year-old, Sophia Galvan lives in Tampa, Florida and had never seen snow until the Make a Wish Foundation granted her wish.
The snow that greeted her at Burgess Farms in Newport, Maine was more than she’d dreamed of. Her father, Victor Galvan says, “She sees snow all the time and she likes cartoons with snow and snowmen.”
So building a snowman was high on Sophia’s list of things to do. She also managed to squeeze in a sleigh ride, snow tubing, a meet and greet with the sled dogs (who later took her sledding) and finally a hot chocolate tea party.
Brenda Gammon of Burgess Farms says, “It’s great to see through a kid’s eyes, the snow again. You remember when you were a child and how magical snow seemed.”
It was a special trip for a little girl who has Rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of cancer. Though she’s in remission now her family worries.
“It can come back but we gotta be ready. We pray every day that God never will take her” says her dad.
Right now, he’ll just enjoy watching his little snow angel.
