Two high school football players in Steubenville, Ohio are hanging up their big-red jerseys for good, because they’re now convicted rapists.

After just four days of testimony, a judge found 17-year-old Trent Mays and 16-year-old Ma’lik Richmond guilty of raping a classmate at a party last year.

It’s a story that made national headlines after their fellow teammates posted photos.

That, along with the victim’s testimony helped the case that the girl was too drunk to consent.

The teens now have to spend at least a year in a juvenile jail, but could be held until they’re 21.

And once released, Mays will spend an additional year in jail.

Justice may have been served, but it’s going to be a long time before all the wounds in this small community can begin to heal.
