NEVADA – It’s been a decade since the Iraq War began, and with all the lives lost overseas, it’s not any easier hearing about the loss of American service members who are not on the battlefield. Just like their missions abroad training has proven, it too, can be deadly.
Seven Marines were killed, and several others were hurt, during a training exercise at the Hawthorne Army Depot, in Nevada. The Depot, about 140-miles southeast of Reno, is used for ammunition storage and provides a place for desert military training units.
Apparently an explosion is blamed for the Marines’ deaths, and is being investigated.
Just goes to show that the sacrifices our service members make don’t just happen overseas.
