PORTLAND, OR – College and drinking goes together like peanut butter and jelly.

Portland State University is taking that extra-curricular and turning it into curriculum.

The institution now offers the country’s first craft brewing certification program. But it’s not exactly like getting a BA in IPA.

The 24-week program teaches skills outside of making malts, like business management, marketing and accounting. Then comes the boozing.

Kristen Pederson with the PSU School of Business said, “We’re going to have a three-day immersion weekend with brewery tours. They’ll meet the brewers, they’ll meet some distillers, going to go to hops and malting facilities to see how those are processed. There will be some tastings.”

This may be hoppin’ in Portland, but don’t let that get you down in the suds. The program is online and available to anyone. But it’s a whopping $2,800!

That’s a lot of bar tabs.
