SAUDI ARABIA – Saudi Arabia’s Communications and Information Technology Commission is threatening to take away it’s citizen’s God-given rights. Access to Internet Messaging!
Popular apps like Skype, Viber and WhatsApp could be blocked by the country if providers don’t comply with the “rules and regulatory conditions” put in place by the government. Only problem is, no one knows which rules these apps are violating.
Considering this new ‘initiative’ comes just a few days after the Saudi Telecommunications Regulator asked the companies to allow the government to monitor the applications, it’s not tough to figure out. It’s in the monarchy’s best interest to keep their citizens uninformed because knowledge really is power.
Unfortunately, just not the kind that can power the Internet.
