Its prom season, which means teens all over are getting ready for that unforgettable night.

On Saturday, it was an unforgettable night for students at a school in Georgia for a different reason.

That’s because it was the first time black and white students were together at prom.

Up until now, students at Wilcox County High School went to separate proms.

According to school officials, since 1971 the segregated proms were private events organized by parents and unrelated to the school.

School board officials said they now plan to vote this spring to make prom an official school event that will be open to everyone.
