Cameras were rolling after Russia’s spy breakers, The FSB, busted Ryan Fogle, a third secretary of the political department at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.
The Russians claim Fogle was trying to recruit a staff member of one Russian’s special services.
They say he had a spy arsenal that included money, wigs, dark glasses, a knife and written instructions for the person he was trying to recruit.
The Russian foreign minister summoned U.S. Ambassador Michael McFaul for an explanation.
After keeping Fogle overnight, and long enough to take plenty of pictures, the Russians kicked him out of the country.
But all of this is part of the big game between Russia and the United States.
In 2010, our governments swapped spies with the U.S. turning over 10 Russians in exchange for 4 Americans.
Pretty mundane stuff, really, and definitely not like what we see in the movies.
