PORTLAND, OR – When it comes to yoga, there’s that stereotype that the people who do it are fit, lean and probably shop at a whole food store or something. But it’s a much different story at Fat Yoga in Portland.
Anna Ipox opened the studio because she wanted to make fat people comfortable doing it. While some could easily find the name offensive, Anna wants to own it and embrace and take the negative stigma away from it.
Students who use to feel uncomfortable at other yoga studios are finding comfort here and enjoying it.
Anna says all sizes and shapes are welcome, and that the word ‘fat’ is just a word etched in glass on the sign to her studio.
