studentsKLEIN, TX – As we honor the lives and courage of the fallen firefighters, Houston Fire Captain William Dowling is still in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital.  He remains in a medically induced coma, while both his legs have been partially amputated.  We’re all in shock for this tragedy, but some little angels with great hearts have also found a way to help.

“I was making these bracelets for fun and then I heard about what happened,’ said Caden Ruder, student at Frank Elementary. ‘So then I started making bracelets to raise money for the Dowling family.”

In two days he and his friends made over $600.

William and his wife Jacki both graduated from Klein Independent School District.  Jacki is currently a PE teacher at Frank Elementary. Her students and colleagues are doing their utmost to support her in this difficult moment.

“We have several activities that we’re doing for the Dowling family,’ explains Principal Eve Messina. ‘All of our students are making cards and in addition to that we’re collecting donations.”

Houstonians prayers and thoughts are with Fire Captain William Dowling and his family, with wishes for a speedy recovery. He’s the kind of hero our communities need the most.
