reliantHOUSTON, TX – It is a solemn day in Houston.

An early morning procession winded through the city into Reliant Stadium, were firefighters from across the state and country joined with families and members of the public to honor four fallen heroes.

Some 40,000 people were expected to pay respects to Matthew Renaud, Robert Bebee, Robert Garner and Anne Sullivan. They all died in the line of duty last week.

“On Friday May 31, 2013, the mayday alarm was heard throughout the Houston Fire Department. This tragically resulted in the most catastrophic loss of lives in the history of our department,” said Fire Chief Terry Garrison.

Governor Rick Perry, Mayor Annise Parker and representatives from each of the fallen firefighter’s families took the podium. The more than two and a half hour service included songs, speeches and a last call.
