When you think of North Dakota, what comes to mind? A cold place where people talk weird?

What if we told you it was just named the nation’s hottest economy? This is the third year in a row roughrider state has snagged the top spot.

Propelled by a massive energy boom, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reports a growth rate of 13.4% for 20-12. That’s five times the national average. The muscle behind the boom is a surge in oil production from an underground rock formation in the northwestern part of the state.

So hey, the next time you’re looking for a job… ya might give the Midwest a try.
