promSILVERDALE, WA – Senior Brittany Minder was told to leave her prom unless she covered her cleavage.

According to the school’s dress code, strapless dresses are allowed as long as cleavage, midriff and lower back are covered.

So school officials told Brittany she had to cover up if she wanted to get in.

Rachel Stoeckel a high school senior and one of Brittany’s friends said, “She’s gone through a really rough time because prom means a lot to everyone, all the girls and all the guys at Central Kitsap. She just got there and they wouldn’t let her in. It ruined her whole night and experience and she never gets to do that again.”

But the controversy now is that the dress code isn’t applied to everyone.

Facebook images snapped of students at the prom show outfits that other kids say flies in the face of that dress code.

“There were a lot of girls that were wearing risqué dresses and they got in,” Stoeckel said.

Brittany eventually put on a shawl and was allowed in but left an hour later because she felt humiliated.
