courtHOUSTON, TX – Harris county Commissioners Court voted unanimously on Tuesday to send a $194 million proposal to turn the Astrodome into a convention center to the county budget office, county attorney and infrastructure department for further review.

“In order to vote, you have to know exactly what you’re dealing with,” said County Judge Ed Emmett.

It still not clear how much of the project’s bill would be covered by taxpayers.  Judge Emmett expects to have more information from other county departments next month. If the court approves the plan, it could go on the ballot for public approval in November.
