HOUSTON, TX – We can’t thank our local heroes enough. That’s why for the 6th year in a row, Independence Heights War on Drugs and Super Neighborhood 13 has held an appreciation dinner for their firefighters.
They were joined by East Sunset Heights Association, Sunset Heights and several community leaders.
But this year, the thanks mean a little bit more after the Houston Fire Department lost four of their own in the motel fire last month.
“We want to show that we love them, that we love their families, we support them, and we support our fire fighters here at station 31 and their backups,” said Natasha Johnson, the Independence Heights and Super Neighborhood 13 President.
An event that was a celebration of service is now a celebration of life.
