lightningALBUQUERQUE, NM – There was a lot more booming than fireworks on the 4th of July for Ian Gordon and Kendra Villanueva.

The couple was outside popping fireworks when they noticed a storm moving in. They were fixing to head inside when they were both struck by lightning.

Doctor’s and EMT’s say the current likely went through Ian’s ear, through his body, and then into Kendra’s before going out her thumb. They think a car they were standing nearby absorbed most of the energy, which might be the reason why they’re still alive.

But there wasn’t just two victims to this story. Kendra was pregnant. She had to undergo an emergency c-section. Thankfully doctors say the baby is doing just fine, but they’re keeping her in ICU as a precaution.
