Chances are if you grew up listening to the radio in Houston, Kidd Kraddick made you laugh more than once. Today, his family, fans, and morning crew are mourning the loss of the 53-year old radio icon after Kidd passed away at a New Orleans golf tournament organized to raise money for his beloved Kidd’s Kids Charity.

A statement on Kidd’s website says, in part that his co-workers are “…heartbroken over the loss of our dear friend and leader. Kidd devoted his life to making people smile every morning, and for 21 years his foundation has been dedicated to bringing joy to thousands of chronically and terminally ill children…. he died doing what he loved.” No word on the cause of death, but he was a man who’s job made our mornings bright and we hope this D.J. rests in peace.
