statueFLORENCE, ITALY – An American tourist accidentally snapped off the finger of a priceless 600-year-old statue of the Virgin Mary.

The un-named tourist was reportedly attempting to measure a finger on the marble sculpture at the museum of the works of the cathedral when the digit broke off.

A security guard says they tried to stop him; but it was too late — the damage was already done.

Now the museum says the tourist apologized, but they might as well hold their breath. The tourist still could be fined for the damage to priceless work that was created before the Italian renaissance in the 14th century.

And god only knows how much the damage will cost to this Virgin Mary. Better start praying now buddy.
