CALIFORNIA – It’s no day in the park for firefighters in California. The northwest section of Yosemite National Park is up in flames. Reports say the massive wildfire was 7% contained as of Monday morning.
The smoke is visible from space.
While the flames continue to spread, so far more than 200 square miles have been destroyed since April 17. Some four and a half thousand buildings are at risk, many of them are vacation homes.
So far the fire has not impacted Yosemite Valley. About 15,000 people visit the national park on a busy summer weekend, and at this point, the campgrounds are still full.
