BILLINGS, MT – Outrage in Montana after a judge decides a former teacher will serve just 30 days in prison for raping his 14-year-old student who later committed suicide.

Back in 2008, 49-year-old Stacey Dean Rambold was looking at 15 years in jail. Now, a judge has suspended almost his entire sentence because he claimed the 14-year-old girl was “as much in control of the situation” as he was, and added the girl was “older than her chronological age”.

This verdict has the victim’s mother shocked and the community isn’t taking lightly to this either. Silent protests have been planned and a petition calling for the judge’s resignation is going around.

No matter what the victim’s age or past, rape should never be justified.
