NORWALK, CT – It’s not the kind of ride they signed up for.

Kids on the swings at Norwalk, Connecticut’s Oyster Festival went from being swung, to flung! The ride suddenly lost power on Sunday. 13 children were hurt, two of them, seriously.

Apparently the ride had just been inspected two days earlier. Stewart amusement, who owns the swings, says they are “continuing to cooperate with authorities as they investigate into the root cause of the accident.”

Experts say portable rides tend to have a solid safety records, but in Connecticut, they only need to be inspected once a year.
