JUNO BEACH, FL – We all know members of the military are brave, but this story is a shock (really just because the war zone was in Florida).

43-year-old father and retired Marine Wen Jones says he was leaving Jones Beach Park one day last spring when he came upon three men aggressively confronting a 14-year-old boy and his father. So he stepped in, and told them to back off.

Cops say that’s when Cody Moore Roon, Tyler Dylan Carswell and Eric Michael Deiterg turned their aggression toward Jones. They beat him up severely.

Jones ended up with a concussion and fractured bones. He had to get surgery to fix a fracture in his eye, and stitches all over his face.

The three suspects had allegedly been bullying along the beach that entire day. Police say they tormented the 14-year-old by kicking sand in his face and using racial slurs. They were arrested and charged with battery. But after police investigated further the trio was re-arrested and charged with aggravated battery, an even more serious crime.
