CARACAS, VENEZUELA – It can be a desperate situation. You just finish your ‘business’ and discover the toilet paper is gone! Frighteningly, that’s what the entire country is dealing with in Venezuela.

On state-run TV, the Venezuelan president says companies are hoarding essential commodities to drive up prices. Talk about a dirty scheme. The government says this is also happening with other products, like rice and cooking oil. But for their part, companies are blaming governmental restrictions and price controls for the shortages.

For now, the state is importing toilet paper. They have also taken over a paper manufacturing plant in order to review production and distribution.

We just hope Venezuela can flush this out.
