HOUSTON, TX – We are less than three weeks away from the big Election Day in Harris County.

And, unlike most mayoral forums we’ve seen for this race, Monday night was a chance for Houstonians to meet all of the mayoral candidates.

Although, of course, the spotlight was on Mayor Annise Parker and Ben Hall.

One of the things Hall said was, “The city of Houston right now enjoys great headlines. But are we looking forward to the economic icebergs? Do we have a solution, Mayor, to the $3 billion of unfunded pension liability? Do we have a solution, Mayor, to the $81 million deficit in next year’s budget?”

Mayor Annise Parker addressed her contribution to the city budget by saying, “The city of Houston has balanced its budget, we have a healthy credit rating, and I have balanced four city budgets without raising taxes and without compromising public safety which is our most important budget expenditure.”

We will be seeing more and more from the candidates in the weeks to come.

Oh, and hey, make sure you are registered to vote. Election Day is November 5th.
