spiderPATTERSON, CA – Love is in the air near Sacramento, California, but it’s not people who are looking their intended.

Tarantulas are on the prowl.

They can often be seen crossing roadways at dawn or dusk looking for females in their burrows.

Romance trumps road traffic in their quest.

Many fall victim to their desires.

Local residents like Becky Hoag say tarantulas are a common sight and not as threatening as they look. If anything they’re threatening towards one another. The female sometimes kills the male after their courting session.
