HOUSTON, TX – Formerly-furloughed workers of Houston listen up, because Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee has a message for you. Welcome back to work!

Ground breaking, we know.

However, as a member of the House Homeland Security Committee and the Judiciary Committee, Jackson Lee says she works closely with many of Houston’s federal employees, and there’s no shortage of them. Some 31,000 Federal employees and 107 Government agencies are right here in the Bayou City.

So, Jackson Lee showed up at her office, the Mickey Leland Federal Building, to give those returning federal employees a good-ole’ government greeting back to their jobs.

Talk about perfect timing, the Labor Department released September’s job numbers and it wasn’t all that economists had hoped for. Even though the unemployment rate dropped to 7.2% the economy only managed to add 148,000 jobs, compared to 200,000 jobs added the previous month.

So, the nation’s not quite back on track, but it’s safe to say this is a course correction!
