HOUSTON, TX – A bipartisan group is trying to rally support for Proposition 6, which would take $2 billion out of the state’s rainy day fund, ironically, to help with our water problem.

“We have certain parts of Texas that are struggling for water,” says Representative Senfronia Thompson, who represents District 141.

“We think this is a responsible plan that makes use of taxes we have already collected to fund this infrastructure without raising anyone’s taxes or creating new fees,” says District 133 Representative Jim Murphy.

If it passes, the lawmakers say there will still be $7 billion left in that account.
