TALLAHASSEE, FL – Redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston — the man who’s taken Florida State to the top of the bowl championship series will not face sexual assault charges.

The 19-year-old accuser claims Winston raped her in December of 2012. Winston says the sex was consensual.

The investigation was reopened in November 2013.

State attorney Willie Meggs says Winston submitted a DNA sample on November 14th that came back positive, but DNA from another unknown male also turned up in the same test.

Meggs says if they proceeded to trial, having an unknown DNA in a sexual assault case would be a problem.
