HOUSTON, TX – Back in 1957, Dwight D. Eisenhower was president, Elvis Presley appeared on the Ed Sullivan show for the last time, and John Lennon and Paul McCartney met for the first time.

It’s also the last year Rice University football won a conference championship.

This Saturday, the team is going for the Conference USA title against Marshall.

“This has been huge, you know. It’s been a really fun year. This class came in, and that was the goal all along was to end up playing for conference,” said Rice quarterback Taylor McHargue.

The game will be at Rice Stadium. And bad news for Marshall, Rice has won eight straight at home.

“It’s gonna be a great football game. We need to have some turnovers where we give our offense a short field and just need to play smart and execute,” said Head Coach David Bailiff.

Kick off is at 11 a.m. Go Owls!
