accHOUSTON, TX – A normal day on the job was anything but for two men on the northwest side of town.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office say the workers were trying to fix a broken water line on Longenbaugh and Oakfield Glen Lane when a wall of mud and dirt fell on them.

“It’s about 15 to 20 feet down, six feet wide by about 12 foot long opening. It appears that it wasn’t shored and the wall collapsed,” Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department spokesman Robert Rasa.

The good news; one man was able to dig himself out, but his buddy didn’t make it.

The case has been turned over to OSHA for further investigation. In the meantime, you hard hats stay safe out there!
